I'm a big Twilight Series fan, so today I have a 1/2 day at work. I'm going to see Eclipse with my mom and sister. My boss got me into it (she has 2 teenage daughters that got her in the loop early). I got my mom into it, and I think she's one of the biggest fans there is. I'm excited for a girls night.
On another fun note, I had a 3p budget meeting yesterday that turned into a surprise baby shower. SO SHOCKED! I didn't see this one coming at all. I'm still waiting on photos of the first shower, and we snapped a few yesterday. I've been with my company, Arby's, for almost 8 years so it was fun to celebrate with all my co-workers. Thanks guys!!! Lauren and katrice- thanks for setting it all up and for such a great spread of food. Everyone was so generous and I got lots of adorable clothes and a good amount of stuff from the registry (yeah!).
My favorite cake in the world is Publix cake, and that's what they got for the shower. I ended my day with a far too large piece of cake. It was delicious.
Happy Wednesday!

Baby Allen's Nursery
Green won out over pink for the nursery as you probably saw last week. I'm very happy with the outcome. Pink was the front runner until we put a large sample on the wall. It was just too much.
Here is a pic of the paint color, crib and fabrics.
Now the big decisions are what fabrics to use for the bumper and bedskirt. The fabric I LOVE will be on a window valence with wooden blinds. The outside of the bumper will probably be that same fabric. Here are some of the options we are toying with:
1) Inside of the bumper: polka dots in the middle of the picture; Bedskirt: one of the pink stripes
2) Bedskirt: the dark pink/white seersucker; Inside of the bumper: maybe the dark blue or dark pink solid fabrics
3) bedskirt: THE fabric, outside of the bumper: polka dots with dark blue or dark pink piping on both the bedskirt and bumper to tie it all together
Here's another picture with the fabrics more close up.
If there are any design opinions out there, bring on the suggestions! I think stripes look great on bedskirts, but we haven't found a winning stripe yet. My favorite colors I'm trying to pull out are the darker blue and the darker pink.
I'm also going to decorate cute letters in my favorite colors and hang above the crib. Very exciting. In other exciting news Beanette has started get the hiccups. Daddy actually diagnosed them b/c I couldn't figure out what her constant kicking was. Supposedly they start in month 8. More to come later this week, hopefully I won't be working such late hours and I can post a few times. Sorry I've been so aloof.
Update: Just looked at this post to make sure the pics went up okay. See the orb in the first one? The little bubble near the bottom center? Some people say those are spirits. (Q the freaky music- Do do do do, do do do do)

Week 32: Where did you come from?
What did you say? I'm 32 weeks and I'll have a newborn in about 8 weeks? Amazing how fast time flies when a baby is growing inside you.
Week 32 stats:
• Your baby weighs about 4 pounds and is almost 11-1/2 inches long, or the length of a small watermelon.
I'll take a belly-bump pic this weekend. I'm to the point where I go to the doc every two weeks. I went Thursday and they said all is well.
I'm getting a little miserable. The swelling has started and I've been having a pretty strong pain right under my bra line in the middle. I learned from the doc that it is probably my ribs widening to make more room for beannette and that the cartilige has nerves so that's the pain. Jealous? Anyone else experience this fun rib pain? It always is worst at night too. Sleeping is getting tougher by the day.
Boy, aren't I a bag full of sunshine? Blogs are a good complaining outlet, I must say.
Have a good weekend. GO USA! This weekend I'll be watching soccer, heading to the braves game and watching soccer. If I have any free time I'll probably watch some more soccer. I'm so sad the world cup is almost over.

Happy Father's Day Daddy!
To both of my daddys...the daddy of my child and my dad- I love you both and hope you had a fabulous day.
To all the daddys out there, I hope you had a great fathers day. My dad's birthday is June 20th, so he gets double the lovin' on Father's Day. We had yummy steaks over at my mom and dad's with my sister and her family. Happy birthday dad! Can't wait to celebrate at the braves game this weekend.
Scott's Fathers Day gift was a group one. We got a Flip (great deal at Costco for anyone needing one). It's HD and records up to 2 hours. It'll plug right into our big TV too. Very exciting.
Other fun stuff going on recently: nursery painting and crib building. We got the nursery painted Friday. I'll try to take some pics this week to show you the color. It looks so good with the hardwoods. You'll get a hint on the color if you keep reading this post.
Scott aka Daddy put together the crib Sunday. It looks GREAT. Thanks to Papa Ger and mamma Lin for the crib...it's lovely! It made my heart melt to think about daddy putting together the crib for his little girl. Here is a pic of daddy in action (I love the first one b/c it looks like Daddy is in jail). I helped a little, but Scott gets an A++ when it comes to furniture assembly.
Tomorrow is the last group stage US world cup game. GO USA! Show us what you're made of and play with HEART! The last game almost put me into premature labor. At least we came back from the 0-2 start.

30 Weeks- where did the time go?
Well, it's hard to believe, but we are 30 weeks along. Tomorrow we hit 31 weeks, which will put the week countdown into single digits. Where did the time go?
Here is a baby bump pic for 30 weeks from the baby shower. I took some pics with my camera, but most of the good ones I need to get from my mom and hostesses. This will give you a sneak peek. You gotta see the pics of the decorations to do it justice. It was perfect!
Beanette is about 3.5 lbs and 16 inches long. The "His boys can swim" site says the manly size comparison for week 28-32 is the height of the wheel on a big wheel; girly sights say the size of a large squash.

Do weekends get any better?
We had a great weekend. I don't know that I've had a happier weekend in a few years. It was great to spend time with Scott, watch the US play their World Cup opener, and have the BEST BABY SHOWER EVER. Scott and I are huge soccer fans, so we had some folks over for the game. I'll take the tie and the fluke goal. We play on Friday next and I'm a little nervous since it's a must win. A special shout out thanks for Mr. Green- the keeper for the Brits for his fumble and own goal. We had a good friend's graduation party Sat night, then I had dinner with Robin and Laura on the Roswell Square. man that area has gotten cute!
The highlight of the weekend was the baby shower on Sunday. The hostesses really outdid themselves. Robin, Sarah, Laura, Danielle and Kelly.... THANK YOU SO MUCH! When I get more pics I'll do a larger post on the shower. My cheeks are sore from all the smiling. Thanks for all the attendees!!
I'm super exhausted from all the fun. This week we'll be painting the nursery and getting everything ready for her arrival. So as I've posted before, I'm not a girly girl. At first, the idea of pink walls was an "absolutely not". I've been having a hard time finding the right green which is making me lean toward the pink. Here's a pic of the fabric with some color swatches. I'm even debating the dark pink up top with beadboard on the bottom 3rd. I promised scott I'd paint this week, so it's officially decision time. I really like the idea of the stripes of the darkers colors below a white chair rail, but I'm scared a) they won't look good b) will be too hard c) will make the room too busy. Any other suggestions? What would you do? The furniture is white. Our master bedroom and kitchen are both a pale slate blue, so that color isn't an option.
PS- we ordered our kitchen appliances today. Two are on backorder so I'm praying for a speedy delivery.

wonderful twos
definitely not terrible twos. Here are a few pics from Max and Alex's 2nd birthday party. Holly, my sister-in-law is a designer and she always puts together the perfect presentation. Isn't the set-up cute? I'll have to hire her for Little Beanette's future birthday parties.
Ok, I'm having trouble with the upload of the max and alex pics, so this will have to do for now.
I have 6 paint samples up on the nursery wall, and I think we have a winner (or at least a winning shade). I'll TRY to take a pic tonight to post manana.
This is the last day of week 29, which is so hard to belive. I feel like I'm about to turn 30...you know...a really important milestone. Her arrival will be here before we know it! Time to get that nursery ready.

Great Weekend... Choo Choo
We had a good weekend. Sunday we did errands all day and I got some samples up on the nursery wall. man, I'm having a hard time finding the right color. I'm grabbing 2 more samples today to throw up and I'll post a pic.
It was the twin's 2nd b-day party with a train theme. The party was a great success...good job Holly. I'll try to post a pic when I get one from holly. I brought my camera, but it stayed in my purse the whole time.
Speaking of cameras, Scott and I have been debating what we need for taking video and pictures of little beannette. We are eyeing a flip HD. Think we need a real video camera too? Our digital cameras are all old, so we may need a newer digital camera that will take less time between the button being pushed and the image being captured. Any suggestions?
On a funny note, Scott and his friends are getting on the P90X band wagon and he started Monday morning. I can actually already see a difference. He really struggled with the first day, so I'm proud of him for sticking with it. Keep up the good work Daddy. Are you trying to look buff for your daughter? He he.

Kitchen Design 101
So we moved into our house in late August of 2009. We bought from the original owners who built the house in 1969. The kitchen definitely lived in the 70s. With beanette on the way we figure we better do this now or it won't happen until she graduates. We had a lot of other house work done in April of this year, but we put off the kitchen with scott's school expenses and figuring out this whole "how much will a baby cost" thing. We still haven't found out the second one, but decided we needed the kitchen remodel to happen...quickly. I guess this blog will become a baby/kitchen remodel blog.
We finally bought cabinets yesterday. Here is the new design.
Very exciting! Isn't it lovely? A special thanks to Robin for all your advice. (Robin is one of the top kitchen designers in Atlanta. She designs the most beautiful high-end kitchens and just won this big award. I can't afford her cabinets, but she's the best!)
Now onto kitchen appliances, which we think we decided on GE Monogram. We did buy a Samsung fridge this weekend, 20% off makes this bargain shopper happy =)
We also primed the nursery last week. We finished up Saturday. I'll be sure to post the "blank slate" pic then show you what we end up doing for the painting. I'm going to try stripes. If it looks bad, we'll paint over them =)
